In a world that constantly pulls us outward—towards achievements, roles, and responsibilities—how often do we pause to journey inward?

As a yoga teacher, I’ve often reflected on the balance between the “I-Self” and the “Self.” The “I-Self” is where we spend much of our time, shaped by the stories we tell ourselves: I am a professional. I am a parent. I am busy. While these identities are important, they are only a part of who we are.

Yoga invites us to go deeper, to peel back the layers and connect with the “Self”—that timeless, unchanging essence within us. This Self is not defined by labels or achievements. It’s the quiet witness, the space of peace, the stillness we touch in meditation or a deeply present moment on the mat.

But this connection doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a practice—a gentle unfolding.

In my own journey, I’ve found this unfolding in the simplest of moments:

  • The soft rhythm of my breath in a morning meditation.
  • The feeling of grounding in a Warrior pose.
  • Even the release of a smile during savasana.

Each of these moments whispers: You are enough, just as you are.

One of the tools that has helped me most in this practice is the mantra “So Hum,” meaning “I am That.” It reminds us that we are not separate from the universe—we are woven into its infinite fabric. When I return to this mantra, I feel a shift. The noise quiets, and what’s left is a profound sense of connection—to myself, to others, to life.

This is why I teach, why I share yoga. It’s not just about the physical poses. It’s about creating space—for you to rediscover your wholeness, your light, your Self.

If you’ve been feeling pulled in too many directions, I invite you to come home to yourself. Whether it’s through yoga, meditation, breathwork, or simply sitting quietly with a cup of tea, take a moment to listen to the whisper of your inner Self.

Because beneath the roles, the busyness, and the noise, you are already whole. And that is your greatest truth.

With love and light,
Nell
